Box Score (LAS VEGAS, Nev., Feb. 26)- The McKendree University women's basketball team dropped its final game of the 2011-12 season with a 89-78 loss to Minot State University.
The Bearcats ended the season with an overall record of 8-22, and will begin their first season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2012-13.
Redshirt seniors
Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) and
Ashley Dressler (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) scored 20 and 12 points, respectively, in the final game of their collegiate careers. Freshman guard
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) also scored 17 points for McKendree in the loss.
The Bearcats shot 42.2-percent from the field in the contest, but struggled with an 8-of-22 effort from beyond the arc. The Beavers countered with a 45.5-percent shooting effort from the field. Minot State also converted 34-of-43 free throws in the contest.
The game was tied 16 times and neither team led by more than seven points for 37 minutes of play. McKendree led 35-34 at the break and the game was tied 67-67 with 6:48 remaining in the game. Minot State pulled away down the stretch to earn the victory.
Lauren Safranski and Morgan Klose each scored 18 points for Minot State, while Sacarra Molina and Carly Boag each had 14 points. Christina Boag also contributed 10 points for the Beavers.
