(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 7)--The McKendree University football team will take its three-game win streak on the road Saturday when the Bearcats travel to Jefferson City, Mo., to take on Lincoln University. Kickoff for the Great Lakes Valley Conference contest is set for 7 p.m. Saturday's game can be heard live on the Bearcat Sports Network at

Last Saturday, McKendree wrap up its home schedule for the 2014 season with a 41-20 victory over William Jewell College. The Bearcats scored the final 21 points of the contest to pull away for its third consecutive win. The three-game win streak is the longest for the Bearcats since a four-game tear late in the 2010 season, and marks the first time the team has won three consecutive GLVC outings.
A balanced offensive and defensive showing has helped fuel the Bearcats' current win streak. On the offensive side of the ball, McKendree has averaged nearly 509 yards of toal offense during the run, with the team topping 500 yards twice (against Southwest Baptist and William Jewell). Defensively, the Bearcats have collected 17 quarterback sacks and registered a season-low in points allowed in last week's triumph over William Jewell.
Lincoln, like Southwest Baptist, joined the GLVC as an associate member for football only prior to the 2014 season. The Blue Tigers are 2-7 on the year and 1-5 in league play. Lincoln stepped out of conference last week and suffered a last-second, 17-14 defeat at the Central Washington University. Saturday's game will be the final home contest for the Blue Tigers this season.
The Blue Tigers' offense is led by senior running back Morris Henderson, who has rushed for 1,063 yards with 15 touchdowns through the team's first nine games. Junior quarterback Owen Jordan has thrown for 1,414 yards with nine touchdowns in eight games this season. Jordan's favorite target is senior wide receiver Khiry Draine, who has caught a team-leading 43 passes for 669 yards with seven TD grabs.
Senior linebacker Kareem Jordan paces Lincoln with 76 taackles and a pair of fumble recoveries. Junior linebacker Jeremy Rives is right behind with 75 stops, while junior defensive lineman Davon Walls has registered 8 1/2 sacks to lead the Blue Tigers.
INSIDE THE McKENDREE/LINCOLN GAME
THE HEAD COACHESMcKENDREE:
Mike Babcock is in his second season as the head coach of the McKendree Bearcats (7-12 at McKendree and overall). Babcock came to McKendree from Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he spent the five years as an offensive assistant coach. From 2009-12, Babcock served as the ThunderWolves' quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Babcock helped CSU-Pueblo to consecutive undefeated regular seasons in 2011 and 2012 along with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships.

WENTLAND TACKLING McKENDREE HISTORY: Sophomore linebacker
A.J. Wentland (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) became the first player in McKendree history to record 10 or more tackles in the first seven games of a season when he accomplished the feat in 2014. Wentland is just the second player to top 100 tackles in a season, and needs three stops to surpass Brandon Nigro for the Bearcats' season record. Nigro registered 108 tackles during his senior season of 2011.
LUCK-Y OF THE BEARCATS: Sophomore defensive lineman
Lucky Baar (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) has played a big role in the three-game win streak for McKendree. Baar has collected 12 1/2 quarterback sacks over the last three games, and has earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice in that span. Baar enters today's game with 13 sacks this year, which ties the program's single-season record. Oku Satcher collected 13 sacks twice in his career, first in 1999 and again in 2001.
GATTI GOES FOR THE CENTURY MARK: Senior wide receiver
Dewayne Gatti (Pasadena, CA/Bonita) returned to the Bearcats' lineup last Saturday and had five catches against William Jewell. Gatti, who is the program's all-time leader in receptions, pushed his career total to 97. He needs three catches over the last two games to become the first McKendree player to have at least 100 catches in a career. Last week, Gatti also became the team's career leader in receiving yards, boosting his total to 1,273 yards. Gatti passed the old mark of 1,227 yards set by Myron Hicks, who played at McKendree from 2008-11.
