(FORT WAYNE, Ind., Jan. 9)- The No. 7 McKendree University women's wrestling team posted two dominate wins on Friday at the NWCA National Duals in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Bearcats advanced to the championship semifinals where they will face No. 1 King University at 11 a.m. ET

McKendree rolled through both of their opponents on Friday, only losing four of its 20 matches. In their first match of the day against No. 12 Midland University (Neb.), the Bearcats held a 5-4 lead after the first two matches, but went on to win its next five matches to take a commanding 29-4 lead. After a loss at 155 pounds, McKendree pinned its last two opponents to seal the win. The Bearcats got pinfall wins from freshman Alyssa Gonzalez (Vallejo, Calif., Benicia), junior Ashley Miles (Katy, Texas, Morton Ranch), and senior Alana Jimenez (Houston, Texas, Katy), and tech fall victories from sophomore Kennon Henderson (Allen, Texas, Frisco Centennial) and freshman Alexis Porter (Ballston Lake, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School) in the opening match.

It was like deja vu in the second match with McKendree again splitting its first two matches, only to win its next six matches to jump out to another large lead 28-6, before splitting the last two matches to earn a 33-10 win over No. 10 University of the Cumberlands. Jimenez and sophomores Lindsey Spjut (Montgomery, Texas, The Woodlands) and Gabby Wehyrich (Fremont, Neb., Fremont) all had pins in the victory, while Seppinni and freshman Cassy Herkelman (Cedar Falls, Iowa, Cedar Falls) each had tech fall wins.
