(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 19) – The McKendree University D3 men's hockey team gears up for a two game series against Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. at the Mediacom Ice Park. The Bearcats first game is Friday night at 9:45 p.m., with the second game of the series played on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Bearcats D3 team earned their first two wins of the season against Lewis University to give the team a record of (2-4). Missouri State has played 12 games this season, with an overall record of (11-0-1). The Ice Bears only loss of the season came at the hands of Loyola University – Chicago in overtime.
McKendree is led by senior forward
Brett Maggio (Collinsville, IL/O'Fallon), who has earned eight points in six games. Maggio has netted six goals and registered two assists so far this season. Freshman forward
Brendan Kelly (Arnold, MO/Lutheran South HS) has scored two goals and added two assists for four points on the season. Junior forward
Ethan Gremminger (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) has three points, finding the back of the net twice and adding one assist.
Backstopping the Bearcats are sophomore goaltender
Zachary Allen (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Junior goaltender
Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland HS). Allen has a record of (1-2) with a goals against average of 5.33 and a save percentage of 0.881. Klostermann also has a record of (1-2), with a goals against average of 6.33 and a save percentage of 0.864.
