(FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Nov. 13) – The McKendree University D3 men's hockey fell to the University of Arkansas on Saturday evening by a final score of 6-2.
The Bearcats struck first in this contest on a marker from junior forward
Garrett Kellam (St. Joseph, MO/Central) assisted by freshman forward
Trevor Rieck (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township HS). However, the Razorbacks answered back with a goal of their own to close out the first period tied at one. The Razorbacks came out strong in the second period finding the back of the net four times before the Bearcats could score. Freshman defenseman
Colten Wilson (Imperial, MO/Fox HS) scored his first career goal to cut the lead down to three. The third period saw just one goal, with the University of Arkansas scoring to take home a 6-2 victory over McKendree.
Kellam and Wilson each scored one goal in the game. Wilson, a freshman, scored the first goal of his career. Kellam's goal marked his third of the season. Earning one assist each was Rieck and Gremminger. Rieck now has five assists and three goals for eight points. Gremminger's assist gives him four total to go along with his five goals for nine points on the season.
McKendree is back in action against Northern Illinois University on November 18 and 19 at Leafs Ice Centre in West Dundee, Ill.
