(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 17) – The McKendree University D3 men's hockey team hits the road to Northern Illinois University to face off against the Huskies on Friday at 10 p.m. and Saturday at 8:15 p.m. at the Leafs Ice Centre in West Dundee, Ill.
The Bearcats have an overall record of 2-10, with wins coming against Lewis University. The Huskies are 3-11 on the season, with wins coming against Lewis University and Washington University – St. Louis.
Senior forward and captain
Brett Maggio (Collinsville, IL/O'Fallon) leads the team in goals with eight, along with his four assists for 12 points on the season. Junior forward
Ethan Gremminger (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) is on a four game point streak, earning four points in the last four games. Gremminger has eight points on the season, with five goals and three assists. Freshman forward
Trevor Rieck (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township HS) has seven points on the season, with three goals and four assists. Rieck notched four points in one game on November 5, against Washington University – St. Louis.
Sophomore goaltender Zach Allen has seen action in eight games, with a record of 1-5 and a save percentage of 0.818. Sophomore goaltender Jared Bradley has played one game at the D3 level for the Bearcats, with a record of 0-1. At the D2 level Bradley has seen time in four games, with a record of 2-1 and a save percentage of 0.859.
This series against Northern Illinois University accounts for the McKendree D3 hockey team's last games of the year. After this road series, the Bearcats will have their home opener against the University of Arkansas at the new McKendree Metro Rec Plex on January 13 and 14.
