(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 3) – The McKendree University men's D3 hockey team faces off against Washington University – St. Louis at East Alton Ice Arena in East Alton, Ill. on Friday at 10:45 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Bearcats currently have a record of 2-6 after having a week off. Washington University – St. Louis has an overall record of 6-2 with wins coming against Northern Illinois University, Wheaton College, and Lewis University.
Senior forward
Brett Maggio (Collinsville, IL/O'Fallon) leads the Bearcats in scoring, netting eight goals and adding two assists for 10 points in just eight games. Just behind Maggio, McKendree has five players with four points. Junior forward
Ethan Gremminger (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) has three goals and one assist, freshman forward
Brendan Kelly (Arnold, MO/Lutheran South HS) has two goals and two assists, both junior forward
Garrett Kellam (St. Joseph, MO/Central) and freshman forward
Cole Fluchel (Wildwood, MO/Eureka HS) have one goal and three assists, and freshman defenseman
Kyle Gawlik (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central HS) has four assists.
Backstopping the Bearcats so far this season has been sophomore
Zachary Allen (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and junior
Trevor Klostermann (Highland, IL/Highland HS). Allen has a record of 1-2 with a save percentage of 0.866. Klostermann has a record of 1-4 with a 0.835 save percentage, and has recently been called upon to join the D2 team. Junior goalie Chris Stier joins the Bearcats D3 team and has not yet started a game this season.
