(Lebanon, Ill., October 5) – The McKendree University women's soccer team gears up for two key matchups this weekend in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play when Truman State University and William Jewell College travel to Leemon Field.
Earlier this week, the United Soccer Coaches (USC) released its NCAA DII National Rankings that featured the Bearcats in the No. 19 spot. GLVC foe Quincy, who the Bearcats lost to 1-0 last weekend jumped to No. 14.
The Bearcats
McKendree heads into week six of the 2017 slate second in the conference standings, a half-game behind Quincy.
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) has a commanding lead in GLVC categories of points (19), goals (7), and is second in assists (5).
Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville ) and
Madyson Mossman (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) add to the Bearcat offensive production with eight and seven points respectively.
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) commands the defensive unit posting a .919 save percentage tallying five shutouts.
The Bulldogs
The Bearcats and the Bulldogs are no strangers to each other as the teams faced off three times last season with Truman State holding a 2-1 advantage. The Bulldogs looks to climb the conference ranks as they currently sit sixth in the GLVC standings. Allison Lockett paces the offense adding seven points on three goals and one assist. Katie Mattingly, reigning GLVC Goaltender of the Year, has played all 960 minutes in net posting a .805 save percentage with four shutouts.
The Cardinals
William Jewell enters the weekend fourth in the conference standings and positioned ninth in the Midwest Regional Rankings. The Cardinals offensive attack is led by Aspen Hawkins and Kayla Crowder who lead the team in goals with three and two respectively. Jordan Lewis has seen all 925:32 minutes in net posting a .926 save percentage with six shutouts.
