(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 8) – The McKendree University men's D3 hockey team is slated to play in the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) Bronze Division playoffs in Peoria, Ill. this weekend. Due to a forfeit by Wheaton College, McKendree automatically advances to the MACHA Bronze Division Championship on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Bearcats are 18-3 overall on the season, with the Wheaton College forfeit. McKendree will face off against the winner between No. 2 Washington University – St. Louis and No. 3 Northern Illinois University, in the MACHA Bronze Division Championship.
Freshman forward Derek Northrop leads McKendree in scoring with 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points. Slotting in behind Northrop is freshman forward Garrett Poole with nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points. Junior goaltender Zach Allen has started between the pipes in 15 games for the Bearcats, posting a record of 12-3 with two shutouts, a save percentage of 0.917, and a goals-against average of 2.28.
