(Lebanon, Ill., March 31) -- McKendree University track and field hosted its first meet at
Leemon Field in five years, welcoming teams from Lewis, Indianapolis and Bellarmine on Saturday. The Bearcat men won the overall team competition scoring 60.5 points, while the women did the same, taking the top spot with 69 points.
Junior DeMontez McCray swept the 100m and 200m, earning a Division II provisional qualifying time of 21.23 in the 200m, while junior Tyree Allen won the 400m in a time of 49.09. Monte Wolke took the top spot in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.40m, Lafayette Waters won the long jump and Jacob Troutman finished first in the triple jump.
Sophomore TsiTsi Mahachi won the 100m in a time of 12.70 and the triple jump with a mark of 11.34m, while senior Melissa Calcara swept the hurdles, placing first in the 100m and 400m events. Quincy McSweeney won the 800m and the 4x400m relay team for the Bearcats took the top spot. Mya Watson Blake won the long jump and Kirby Smith finished first in the javelin competition.
The Bearcats will continue their outdoor season next weekend at the Bellarmine Classic and SLU Billiken Invite.
