(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 23)--
The McKendree University men's basketball team will head north to take on a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference foes this week. The Bearcats will visit Quincy University Thursday evening to kick off the trip before wrapping up its brief two-game swing Saturday afternoon at Truman State University.

McKendree was edged by Missouri S&T on Saturday as the Bearcats wrapped up a season-long four-game home stand, 72-69. Nolan Gerling (Germantown, IL/Mater Dei) and Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) each posted season-high scoring totals against the Miners, dropping in 25 and 20 points, respectively, in the effort. Gerling also had eight rebounds, matching Giovanni Offard (Freeport, IL/Freeport) for team-high honors. The loss to Missouri S&T moved the Bearcats' record to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in GLVC action.

Gerling, Kohrmann and Nate Michael (St. Joseph, IL/St. Joseph-Ogden) are the three McKendree players averaging in double figures entering this week's play. Michael leads the trio at 15.4 PPG, which sits 10th in the conference. Michael also tops all GLVC players in free throw percentage at 92.3 percent. He continues to move up the Bearcats' career scoring list, jumping into 27th place at 1,402 points. He is also tied with T.J. Stone for ninth place on McKendree's career chart for three-point field goals at 202. Gerling is second on the team at 12.3 PPG, and has taken over the team lead in rebounding at 6.0 RPG. Thanks in part to his 20-point effort against Missouri S&T, Kohrmann has moved up to 10.4 PPG.

Giovanni Offard (Freeport, IL/Freeport) is fifth overall in the GLVC in assists per game. His 73 assists give Offard a season average of 4.56 APG. Alijah Thomas (Des Moines, IA/Hoover) has joined Michael among the top five in the conference in free throw percentage as he is fourth at 88.6 percent.

The Bearcats will return home to the Statham Center next week for two more key GLVC match-ups. McKendree will entertain the University of Indianapolis next Thursday -- Jan. 31 -- before Lewis University comes to Lebanon two days later on Feb. 2.

ABOUT QUINCY
The Hawks bring an overall record of 8-10 and a 2-6 GLVC ledger into Thursday's game with McKendree. Quincy has dropped five of its last six contests, including an 83-74 setback Saturday at home against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Jah-Kobe Womack showed the way for the Hawks with 19 opints, while Aziz Fadika chipped in with 17 points and five rebounds.

Marcus Hinton leads the way for Quincy in both scoring and rebounding. Hinton is averaging 13.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per outing. Demetrius Houston has connected for 13.6 PPG and is shooting 42.3 percent from three-point range. Houston has also handed out a team-high 41 assists for the Hawks. Womack is the only other player who has appeared in at least half of Quincy's games in double figures at 11.2 PPG.

McKendree was defeated twice last season in two close games against Quincy. The Hawks outlasted the Bearcats 69-67 back on Jan. 18, 2018 in Lebanon before notching a 127-120 overtime win in the season finale on Feb. 24, 2018 in Quincy, Ill. Nate Michael (St. Joseph, IL/St. Joseph-Ogden) torched the nets for a school-record 51 points in the overtime contest at Quincy back in February.

ABOUT TRUMAN STATE
The Bulldogs will take an 8-10 season record and 3-5 GLVC mark into its Thursday night home game against the University of Illinois Springfield. Truman State is winless over its last five games, including their last outing which resulted in an 85-78 defeat at the hands of Maryville University on Saturday. Brodric Thomas led the charge for the Bulldogs with 35 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots against the Saints.

Thomas leads a group of four Bulldogs scoring at least 10 points per game at 18.9 PPG. He is also the team's leading rebounder, bringing down 6.9 RPG. Cade McKnight is next at 12.4 PPG, while Turner Scott (10.6 PPG) and Taurin Hughes (10 PPG) round out the quartet. Scott leads Truman State with 60 assists, and Hughes is shooting a robust 41.2 percent from three-point territory.

Saturday's game will mark a homecoming for two members of the McKendree coaching staff. Head coach Chris Foster spent the previous four seasons at the helm of the Truman State program before taking the reins at McKendree in late March. Assistant coach Seth Jackson was a four-year member of the Bulldogs' program from 2011-15 and ranks third on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,655 points.

Truman State took the only meeting of the 2017-18 season against McKendree. On Dec. 7, 2017 inside the Statham Center, the Bulldogs defeated the Bearcats 80-70. Nate Michael (St. Joseph, IL/St. Joseph-Ogden) paced McKendree with 18 points while Giovanni Offard (Freeport, IL/Freeport) helped out with 12 points and four assists.
