(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 24) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team is set to play a home and home series with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville this weekend. The Bearcats will host Friday's contest at 7:30pm and the Cougars will host on Saturday with a time slated for 8:30pm.
The Bearcats enter the weekend at 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). McKendree is currently on a three game winning streak after sweeping Maryville last weekend, Oct. 18-19.
Offensively, junior
Derek Northrop (St. Louis, MO/De Smet Jesuit High School) leads the team in scoring with a team-high six goals and 10 points on the season. Junior
Riley Brown (Granite City, IL/Granite City High School) and junior guide the offense with six and five assists, respectively. Brown played a key part in the sweep of Maryville as he recorded four assists in the two games.
About SIU-Edwardsville
The Cougars are 4-4-1 overall on the season and 2-1-1 in the MACHA. Christian Perry is the primary offensive threat for the Cougars with 11 goals, five assists, and 16 points on the season. Kain Henson provides help with a team-leading 10 assists.
In the crease, Caleb Currie and Justin Nosser have both played five games. Currie has a 3-1 record, 3.99 goals against average, and .910 save percentage. Nosser sports a 1-3-1 record, 5.25 goals against average, and .899 save percentage.
