(VANCOUVER, B.C., Canada – Nov. 4) - McKendree University's women's wrestling team competed Saturday morning at the Simon Fraser University Open, hosted by Simon Fraser University. They came out with two champions, five finalists, all 10 Bearcats placed in the top-4 of their weight classes, and placed second as a team.
Below are the results for the individual weight classes for the Bearcats.
50 kg:
Natalie Reyna (Hesperia, CA/Whittier High School) won a 9-4 decision over Alexia Seal of Simon Fraser University in the 3
rd-place match and placed third.
53 kg:
Theresa Rankin (Grass Lake, MI/Grass Lake High School) was defeated by Danielle Garcia of King University (Fall 3:21) in the 3
rd-place match and placed fourth.
57 kg:
Alexia Ward (Portland, OR/Westview High School) was defeated Amy Bellavia of University of Calgary (Fall 4:02) in the finals and placed second.
62 kg:
Emma Bruntil () defeated Julie Steffer of Brock University in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the finals and placed first.
68 kg:
Grace Kristoff (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic High School) defeated Paige Maher of Alberni (Fall 0:48) in the 3
rd-place match and placed third.
72 kg:
Alexandria Glaude (West Sacramento, CA/Christian Brothers High School) defeated Skylar Grote of Brock WC in a 6-1 decision in the finals and placed first.
Joye Levendusky (Avon, NY/Avon High School) defeated Chloe Rogers of Simon Fraser University in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the 3
rd-place match and placed third.
76 kg:
Kori Bullock (Cahokia, IL/Cahokia High School) was defeated in a 5-4 decision to Justina DiStasio of BMWC in the finals and placed second.
Andrea Sennett (Wheeling, IL/Wheeling High Shcool) won a 3-2 decision over Dejah Slater of Team Impact in the 3
rd-place match and placed third.
90 kg:
Sydnee Kimber (Sitka, AK/Mt Edgecombe High School) was defeated in a 12-4 decision to Emily Cue of Simon Fraser University in the finals and placed second.
The Bearcats will be back on the road Nov. 15-16, as they travel to New York City, NY, for the Bill Farrell Invitational Open, hosted by USA Wrestling.
