(JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Nov. 4) – McKendree University's women's wrestling team competed Saturday morning at the Dr. Bob Kellogg Women's Open hosted by MacMurray College. They had three first-place finishes and 11 top-5 finishes in their weight classes.

Below is a recap of the individual weight class results for the Bearcats.

101-lb. class:

Jolie Lucas (North Pole, AK/Ben Eielson Jr./Sr. High School) defeated Alyssa Sequeria of Central Christian College in a technical fall (TF 12-2) in the quarterfinal round. Lucas won by fall in the semifinals over Autumn Branson of York College (Fall 1:29). In the 1^st-place match, Lucas was defeated by teammate Pauline Granados (Rialto, CA/Wilmer Amino Carter High School) in a 10-2 decision and placed second.

Valerie Carreon () was defeated by teammate Pauline Granados (Rialto, CA/Wilmer Amino Carter High School) in a technical fall during the semifinals (TF 10-0). In the Cons. Round, Carreon defeated Alyssa Sequeria by fall (Fall 2:10). Carreon defeated Autumn Branson by a technical fall in the 3^rd-place match (TF 12-2) and placed third.

Pauline Granados (Rialto, CA/Wilmer Amino Carter High School) defeated Madisen Alvardo of Lindenwood University in a technical fall during the quarterfinal (TF 10-0). Granados defeated teammate Carreon in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the semifinals. Granados defeated teammate Lucas in the 1^st-place match in a 10-2 decision and placed first.

109-lb. class:

Carly Valleroy (St. Louis, MO/Mehlville High School) defeated Angelina Graff of North Central College in a technical fall (TF 10-0) during the quarterfinals. Valleroy won by a 4-2 decision in the semifinals over Brianna Ribucan Leong of Lyon College.  Valleroy was defeated in from a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the 1^st-place match against Aliyah Rollins of Missouri Baptist University, and placed second.

116-lb. class:

Katherine Sumner (Port Byron, NY/Dana L. West) won by a technical fall (TF 12-0) over Shar Whitten of Missouri Valley College in the quarterfinals. Sumner won by an 8-4 decision over Angelique Terrones-Cruz of Lindenwood University in the semifinals.  Sumer was defeated in a technical fall (TF 10-0) by Allissa Maldonado (Cypress Falls, TX/Cypress Falls) of McKendree university (unattached) in the 1^st-place match and placed second.

Zamantha Mulder (Wolcottville, IN/Hillcrest High Shcool) was defeated in a technical fall (TF 10-0) by Maldonado in Round 1 of the championship. Mulder received a bye in Round 1 of the Cons. match. Mulder defeated Abby Eisenbeis of North Central College in a technical fall (TF 10-0) during Round 2 of the Cons. match. Mulder won by fall (Fall 0:48) over Shar Whitten of Missouri Valley College in Round 3 of the Cons. Match. Mulder fell to Emily Fergeson of York College (Fall 1:49) in the Cons. semifinals match. Mulder won by fall over Gabrielle Grimes of Missouri Valley College (Fall 2:45) in the 5^th-place match and placed fifth.

130-lb. class:

Shaina Murray (Watchung, NJ/Wyoming Seminary Prep) defeated Mackenzie Tayerle of Adrian College in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the quarterfinals. Murray fell to Amanda Martinez of North Central College (Fall 2:32) during the semifinals. Murray defeated Heavynne Jerez of MacMurray College in a technical fall (TF 10-0) during the Cons. semifinals. Murray defeated Katelynn Gunderson of Lakeland University in a technical fall (TF 10-0) during the 3^rd-place match and placed third.

136-lb. class:

Salome Walker (Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka High School) was defeated in a technical fall (TF 10-0) to Zoe Nowicki in the quarterfinals. Walker received a bye in Round 2 of the Cons. match. Walker defeated Christianna Joy Bush of MacMurray College (Fall 1:00) in Round 3 of the Cons. match. Walker defeated Sydney Sims of Adrian College (Fall 1:36) of the Cons. semifinals. Walker was defeated in a 11-10 decision to Logan Mize of Lyon College in the 3^rd-place match and placed fourth.

143-lb. class:

Brianne Penunuri (El Monte, CA/El Monte High School) was defeated by Mia Dow of MacMurray College (Fall 5:07) in the quarterfinals. Penunuri defeated teammate Shannon Henry (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis High School) in a technical fall (TF 12-0) in Round 1 of the Cons. match. Penunuri won by a 5-0 decision over Makayla Black of Waldorf University in the Cons. semifinals. Penunuri fell to Megan Vondrasek of Adrian College (Fall 2:58) in the 3^rd-place match and placed fourth.

Michelle Camacho (Rialto, CA/Carter High School) defeated Melody Barrows of Adrian College in a technical fall (TF 12-0) in the quarterfinals. Camacho won by technical fall (TF 10-0) over Makayla Black in the semifinals. Camacho won by a 4-2 decision over Mia Dow in the 1^st-place match and placed first.

Shannon Henry (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis High School) was defeated by Megan Vandrasek in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the quarterfinals.  Henry was defeated by teammate Penunuri in a technical fall (TF 12-0) in Round 1 of the Cons. match.

155-lb. class:

McKenzie Cook (Homer, AK/Homer High School) defeated Alexis Lopez in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in Round 1 of the championship. Cook won an 8-2 decision over Kaylee Foster of Missouri Baptist University in the quarterfinals. Cook defeated Kassandra Castillo in a technical fall (TF 10-0) in the semifinals. Cook defeated Mara Eason of Adrian college in the 1^st-place match (TF 10-0) and placed first.

The Bearcats will be back on the road Nov. 15-16, as they travel to New York City, NY, for the Bill Farrell Invitational Open, hosted by USA Wrestling.
