VIDEO PREVIEW WITH COACH MIKE BABBOCK

(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 7)—
The McKendree University football team will play its final regular-season home game of the 2019 season on Saturday when the Bearcats play host to Quincy University. Kickoff for the Great Lakes Valley Conference match-up is set for 1 p.m. The game will also air on the Bearcat Sports Network at www.glvcsn.com/mckendree, beginning with the pre-game activities at 12:45 p.m.

Saturday also marks Senior Day for the Bearcats' program as 12 players will be honored prior to their final appearance on the home turf at Leemon Field. There will also be special ceremonies throughout the contest honoring McKendree President Dr. James Dennis, who announced he will retire at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.

McKendree enters Saturday's game with a 4-5 overall record and a 2-3 mark against GLVC competition. The Bearcats had their three-game win streak snapped last Saturday with a 45-17 setback on the road at No. 25-ranked Truman State University. Senior wide receiver Matt Cole (Chicago, IL/Curie) broke the program's single-season record for touchdown catches as he scored twice against the Bulldogs on TD receptions of 40 and 60 yards. Cole had shared the previous mark of eight, which was set just last season by Jalyn Williams (Carbondale, IL/Carbondale).

Cole, who now has 10 touchdown receptions on the year, is also within striking distance of the Bearcats' single-season mark for receiving yards. He has 785 yards on the year and is second only to Dewayne Gatti's record of 837 from the 2013 campaign.

Freshman quarterback Turner Pullen (Shelbyville, IL/Shelbyville) threw for 292 yards at Truman State, going 22-of-31 through the air. With his two TD passes to Cole, Pullen now has 19 scoring strikes on the year, which is a record for first-year quarterback at McKendree.

Sophomore Devon Myles (Chicago, IL/Westinghouse College Prep) led the Bearcats in tackles for the second straight game, posting 11 at Truman State. Myles now has 79 stops on the year, which is second only to senior linebacker Ricco Gipson, Jr. (Godfrey, IL/Alton) With 272 tackles entering his final home game, Gipson is currently fifth on the Bearcats' career list, and needs six to move past Mike Garavalia into the No. 4 spot on the chart.

Freshman punter Elliott Prott (Highland, IL/Highland) ripped off a career-best 70-yard punt in the fourth quarter at Truman State. That is just the third punt of at least 70 yards in program history, topped on by Monte Wolke's (Sigel, IL/Cumberland) school-record 78-yard boot against West Liberty University in 2016 and a 74-yard punt by Mark Albertini back in 1999 against the University of Saint Francis (Ind.).

McKendree will wrap up its 2019 regular season on Nov. 16 with a trip to Missouri S&T. The Bearcats and Miners will face off at 1 p.m. in Rolla, Mo.
