(BLOOMINGTON, Ill., Dec. 6) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team opened up a two game series on the road against Illinois State University with an 8-1 loss on Friday night.
The Bearcats slip to 6-8-1 overall and 2-8-1 in Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) play.
In the opening period, McKendree found the back of the net first when junior Nicholas Nelson scored with help from sophomore
Logan Bielecke (Glen Carbon, IL). Illinois State answered back with three unanswered goals to carry a 3-1 lead into the opening intermission.
The Redbirds pushed five more goals throughout the second and third periods to capture an 8-1 win over the Bearcats.
McKendree will look for a sweep tomorrow night at 7:00pm.
