(LEBANON, Ill., March 30) - The McKendree University men's and women's track and field programs placed in four events in the last day of the Bellarmine Invitational. The Bearcats accumulated 11 total podium finishes in the first day of competition yesterday for a total of 15 medal placements this weekend.
The women's team placed first in two events and then second in one.
Azlynn Sherrod-Butler (East Moline, IL) and the women's 4x100m relay team earned first. Sherrod-Butler in the 100m hurdles with a final time of 14.86, and then
A'ja Nauden (Park Forest, IL/Rich East),
Mya Watson-Blake (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township),
Kirby Smith (Des Arc, AK/Des Arc), and
Leah Kloss (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake Central) led the 4x100m relay team to a first place finish with a final time of 48.19. Second place finisher for the women's team was Watson-Blake in the women's high jump with a final leap of 1.60m.
The lone medal finisher for the men's team in day two of the Bellarmine Inviational was
Tyree Allen (Country Club Hills, IL/Hillcrest) in the 100m dash. Allen crossed the finish line at 10.90 to place third.
McKendree will be back in action next weekend, April 6, with its only home meet. The Bearcat Classic will be an all-day event hosted at the Leemon Field's track.
