(LEBANON, Ill., April 6) – The McKendree University men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Bearcat Classic Saturday where they honored 19 seniors at their last home meet. The men's team finished the meet in first place while the women's team placed third overall.
The men's team placed first in six events, second place in nine events, and third place in four events. Freshman
Michael Adderley (Nassau, BA) placed top three in the most events earning first place in the javelin and second place in the triple jump and the long jump. Other multi-event winners were senior
Tyree Allen (Country Club Hills, IL/Hillcrest) and
Harry Uyehara (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville). Allen placed second in both the 100m and 200m dashes while Uyehara placed second in both the shot put and hammer throw.
First place finishers from the men's team were
Torrey Deal (Madison, IL/Granite City),
Johnathan Bumpers (Alton, IL/Alton ),
Monte Wolke (Sigel, IL/Cumberland),
Darren Arzu (Chicago, IL/Hillcrest), and
Preston Holt (Miami, FL/Miramar). Deal finished first in the high jump, Bumpers in the long jump, Wolke in the pole vault, Arzu in the 110m hurdles, and Holt in the 400m hurdles.
The women's team collected four first place finishes, one second place finish, and five third place finished. Senior
Leah Kloss (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake Central) and sophomore
Mya Watson-Blake (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) were the two Bearcats to place top three in multiple events. Kloss earned first in the javelin and third in the 100m dash while Watson-Blake placed third in both the high jump and the 200m dash.
Senior
Peyton Ali (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) of the women's team broke the school record, previously held by her, in the 3000m steeplechase with an impressive 11:19.58 finish to earn first place. Other first place finishers for the women's team were
Azlynn Sherrod-Butler (East Moline, IL) and
Shayna Phillips (Effingham, Il/Effingham). Sherrod-Butler earned first in the 100m hurdles while Phillips crossed the finish line first in the 800m dash.

McKendree will return to action with the Joe Walker Invitational at Ole Miss next weekend, April 13-14 in Oxford, Miss.
