(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 6)—McKendree University men's basketball coach Chris Foster released the Bearcats' 2019-20 season schedule on Friday.
 
The Bearcats' 28-game slate officially tips off on Saturday, Nov. 9, when McKendree will host the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Challenge at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center. McKendree will square off against Michigan Tech in that Nov. 9 contest before facing Northern Michigan University the following day.
 
In addition to the 28-game docket, McKendree will play exhibition games against two NCAA Division I institutions. The Bearcats will take the court for the first time in 2019 on Friday, Nov. 1 at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. McKendree's other Division I exhibition contest will be on Dec. 17, when the Bearcats travel to Clarksville, Tenn., to tangle with Austin Peay State University.
 
As membership in the Great Lakes Valley Conference grows to 16 teams for the 2019-20 campaign, so does the amount of games that McKendree will face against league competition. All GLVC teams will have a 20-game conference slate. The Bearcats' first GLVC game will come at home against the University of Southern Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
 
"We are excited about the schedule we have put together for the 2019-20 season," said Foster, who enters his second season at the helm of the Bearcats' program. "Our non-conference schedule is challenging but we are excited about the opportunities to prove ourselves against quality (NCAA) Division II programs. With the GLVC moving to 20 conference games, we felt challenging ourselves in the non-conference portion will prepare us to compete in one of the best leagues in the country."
 
Following the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge, McKendree will close out the season's first month with home games against East Central College (Nov. 16), Westminster College (Nov. 19) and Principia College (Nov. 23). The first meeting with Southern Indiana on Dec. 3 tips off the GLVC slate for the Bearcats, who will then head to Jackson, Tenn., for a non-conference clash against Union University.
 
For the second year in a row, McKendree will participate in the Quincy University Holiday Classic, taking on Lincoln University and Hannibal-LaGrange University in contests to be played Dec. 14-15 in Quincy, Ill. The Austin Peay exhibition game will the Bearcats' final game action before the holiday break.
 
McKendree will play its final 19 regular-season games against GLVC foes, beginning with a Jan. 2 match-up at home against one of two new league members, Southwest Baptist University. The Bearcats will play the other first-year member of the conference – Lindenwood University – twice in 2019-20. The teams will play Jan. 30 in St. Charles, Mo., before facing off just 16 days later – on Feb. 15 – inside the Statham Center. In all, McKendree will have 15 home games, with Senior Day set for Saturday, Feb. 22 against the University of Illinois Springfield.
