LEBANON, Ill. — The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) release their Division II Regional Rankings on Wednesday, March 4th, as the McKendree men's basketball team ascended to No.8 amongst those in the Midwest Region.
The Bearcats were previously No.9 in last week's rankings, and were under consideration in the first 10 that was released last week. The team has records of 20-7 against DII competition and 19-7 against the same level within the Midwest zone. McKendree overall on the season is 21-7 and has finished with a 14-6 mark in GLVC play.
McKendree is 2-2 against those in this week's edition of the rankings, splitting against No.18 and second-ranked Rockhurst University and beating 10th-ranked Missouri S&T, while falling to the seventh-ranked William Jewell College.
The Bearcats will turn their attention to the GLVC Championship Tournament, starting on Friday, March 6th against the three-seed University of Illinois Springfield.
ABOUT THE NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS
Records for consideration are against NCAA Division II opponents only. The regional rankings will be released every Wednesday afternoon beginning Feb. 18 and will be done weekly through March 4. The official selection committee's ranking of the top teams in each of the eight regions is used to determine who qualifies for the NCAA Tournament.
