(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 23) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team will close out its regular season at home with two games against Iowa State University. Friday's contest will begin at 7:30pm and Saturday is slated for 5:00pm.
Friday's game will be Semicolon Night with the Bearcats featuring newly themed jerseys. Before Saturday's game, McKendree will honor its five seniors:
Wolfgang Davis (Langdon, ND/Billings Bulls NA3HL),
Nathan Gaterman (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School),
Nick Gay (Pinedale, WY),
Tony Grasso (O'Fallon, MO/De Smet Jesuit High School), and
Trevor Rieck (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township High School).
The Bearcats sit at 7-9-1 overall on the season with a 2-9-1 record in Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) play.
Offensively, junior
Derek Northrop (St. Louis, MO/De Smet Jesuit High School) leads the way with 10 goals, 10 assists, and 20 points – all team highs. Freshman
Noah Scrum (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School) ties Northrop in assists with 10 while totaling 17 points.
In net, freshman
Mason Young (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville High School) is 3-5 overall, with a 4.04 goals against average, and .908 save percentage. Freshman
Adam Siek (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada/St. Mary's Catholic Secondary School) has a 1-4-1 record, 4.11 goals against average, and .894 save percentage.
About Iowa State
The Cyclones post a 6-9-3 overall record on the season. Cooper Bailey is leading scorer for Iowa State with five goals, six assists, and 11 points. Tate Hentz facilitates the offense with seven assists to lead the team.
In net, Drew Pehrson has a 2.86 goals against average and .895 save percentage.
