James Kisgen announces the addition of 17 student-athletes to the men's wrestling roster for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Jordan Alcala (Yakima, WA/A.C. Davis)
Alcala was a 2018 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) State Qualifier and also wrestled for Empire Wrestling Club.
Wes Bockert (Fairbanks, AL/Lathrop)
Held the school record for 164 takedowns for the Malamutes of Lathrop High School. Bockert recorded 141 wins in his four-year career and was a two-time State Champion.
Rasheek Bonds (Goshen, IN/Goshen)
Recorded over 100 wins for the Redhawks of Goshen High School.
Christian Cartright (Branson, MO/Branson)
Cartright posted an overall 97-34 record in his career with the Pirates of Branson High School.
Jared Dowell (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community)
Was a two-time Chuck Merdock Award winner, named to the Journal Star All-Area team, First Team All-Mid-Illini Conference honoree for the Dragons of Pekin Community High School. Dowell was the first wrestler to make it to the finals in the 3A division State Finals in 21 years and the first wrestlers in 18 years to place in the 3A division State Finals tournament, where took sixth overall as a junior. During his four-year career, Dowell recorded an overall 101-31 record and was a team captain.
Cam Fusco (Arnold, MO/Seckman)
Fusco his senior season ranked No.10 in the nation, a four-time State finalist, four-time First Team All-Conference honoree, and an overall record of 181-6 for the Jaguars of Seckman High School. Fusco posted a career milestone, with the fastest pin record, with five seconds. Additionally, he wrestled for USWA Wrestling Academy.
Ryan Haynes (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community)
Haynes posted an overall 132-33 record wrestling as a captain for the Dragons of Pekin Community High School. He was a four-time Illinois 3A Sectional Qualifier; three-time Second Mid-Illini Conference and one-time First Team Mid-Illini Conference honoree, and a two-time Chuck Murdock Award Winner as part of the Journal Star All-Area Team.
Christian Pfeiffer-Laguerre (Goshen, IN/Concord)
Was an Academic All-State, three-time All-Conference, two-time Semi-State Qualifier, two-time Disney Duals All-American, and recorded over 100 wins for the Minutemen of Concord High School. Pfeiffer-Laguerre finished his senior season with a 34-4 record, was named Conference Champion and Winter Athlete-of-the-Year in Elkhart County. During his junior season, Pfeiffer-Laguerre was a Fargo National Qualifier and placed third overall in the ISWA Greco State Championship.
Devan Lewis (Smithville, MO/Smithville)
Was a four-time All-State, four-time First team All-District, four-time First Team All-Conference, and four-time Class 3 District 4 Champion wrestler for the Warriors of Smithville High School. Lewis hit a career milestone recording 156 wins in his four-years on varsity. In his four-year return to the State Championship, Lewis took the title during his senior season and two third-place finishes. Additionally, Lewis wrestled for Greater Heights Wrestling Club.
Rodrick Love (Springfield, IL/Lanphier)
Recorded an overall 99-22 record for the Lions of Linphier High School.
Brody Norman (Washington, IL/Washington Community)
Norman was a member of the three-time Dual Team State Championship team and the 2020 Dual Team finalist. Norman was a three-time All-Conference, one-time All-State, one-time All-Area honoree, and a Fargo All-American. During his senior season, Norman posted a 42-2 record and was State Champion.
Landon Porter (De Soto, MO/De Soto)
Porter was a four-time First Team All-Conference, three-time All-State, two-time All-Metro, and three-time Conference Champion. Porter posted an overall 162-13 record, including an undefeated senior season, and 108 pins. As a four-time State Qualifier, Porter took fourth as a junior and the championship title as a senior. In addition, Porter wrestled for United States Wrestling Academy.
Julian Ramirez (Chicago, IL/Oak Forest)
Ramirez a three-time Regional Champion, two-time All-State and Sectional Champion, three-time All-Conference and Conference Champion, and one-time All-Area honoree with the Bengals of Oak Forest High School. In Ramirez's high school career, he qualified for IHSA State as a sophomore, took fourth in IHSA State as a junior, and took fifth in IHDS State as a senior. He recorded an overall 156-30 recorded. Additionally, Ramirez wrestled for Saddle Up Wrestling Club.
Max Rinklin (Manchester, MO/Parkway South)
Was a First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference, two-time State Qualifier, and four-year varsity wrestler for the Patriots of Parkway South High School. In his four-year varsity career, Rinklin posted a 103-41 record.
Ronan Schuelke (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North)
Schuelke was part of the over-100 varsity win club for the Panthers of Glenbard North High School, posting an overall 130 varsity wins. Schuelke was a two-time DuKane Conference Champion and a DuPage Valley Conference Champion. In the 2020 season, he was a 3A Individual State Qualifier in the IHSA Folkstyle State Championship and ranked in the top-16 of Class 3A. In the 2019 season, he placed sixth in the 3A IHSA Individual Folkstyle State Championship, State Champion in both the Illinois Greco-Roman and Illinois Freestyle State Championships, Runner-Up in the USAW Folkstyle National Championship, and was ranked in the top-16 of Class 3A. In the 2018 season, he was State Champion in the Illinois Greco-Roman State Championship, took fourth at both the USAW Folkstyle National Championship and USAW Greco-Roman Junior National, Runner-Up in USA Freestyle Junior Nationals, and was ranked in the elite-8 of Class 3A. In the 2017 season, Schuelke was Runner-Up in USAW Folkstyle National Championship and placed eighth in USAW Cadet Greco-Roman National Championship.
Joe Semerad (Monett,MO/Monett)
Broke a career record for the Cubs of Monett High School with 195 and had a 195-18 career record. Semerad was an All-American, four-time Class 2 nationally ranked wrestler in the top-4, being No.1 in his junior and senior seasons. Semerad was also a four-time Class 2 State Championship qualifier, taking the title as a freshman, sophomore and senior.
Zeke Waltz (Jerseyville, IL/Jersey Community)
Waltz was a three-time First Team All-Conference, was Runner-Up in IHSA 2A State Championship as a senior and placed fifth at the IHSA 2A State Championship as a junior for the Panthers of Jersey Community High School. Waltz hit a career milestone when he recorded 100 wins and posted an overall 134-36 record.
