Phasin Vichitcharoenpaisarn (Bangkok, Thailand/The American School of Bangkok) has been this week's Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday.
The GLVC Men's Golfer of the Week accolade is the second consecutive for Vichitcharoenpaisarn as he was recognized. By the league office last week.
Vichitcharoenpaisarn repeats as this week's GLVC Men's Golfer of the Week accolade after capturing individual medalist honors at the Midwest Regional hosted by UMSL and held at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
At the Midwest Regional, Vichitcharoenpaisarn shot a three-round, 54-hole score of 1-over par 217 to win by three shots over a trio of players, including Indianapolis' Brian Mast and Southern Indiana's Jason Bannister. He opened the event with a 77 and then carded an even-par 72 in the second round and then carded a 4-under par 68 in the final round, including closing the round by playing final 10 holes at 5-under par to jump from a tie to fifth place to first place. His final round 68 was the lowest individual round in the tournament and tied for the team's single lowest round of the season.
Vichitcharoenpaisarn was tied for second in the event in birdies with 12 and led the field in par-3 scoring as he played the course's par-3 holes at 1-under par and averaged 2.92. He was also tied for second in par-4 scoring as he played the par-4 holes at 2-over par and averaged 4.07 on those holes.
On the season, Vichitcharoenpaisarn has played in three events and seven rounds and leads the team in scoring average at 72.43. He has had five rounds of par or better on the season and has finished in the Top 10 in all three events with two first place finishes. He has had three of the six lowest rounds this season, including his 4-under par 68 in the final round of the Midwest Regional.
Vichitcharoenpaisarn and the Bearcats return to action will return to course next week (Oct. 18-19) as they host the Bearcat Dual Gender Event at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Ill.
