LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball is back out on the road for Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups in Missouri on October 8 and 9. The opening contest of the weekend features the matchup of the Bearcats, McKendree and Southwest Baptist, and then McKendree wil take on Rockhurst (RV) on Saturday.
McKendree enters the weekend match winning its most recent match over Truman State (10/2/2021), 3-1. In the first home victory for the Bearcats, the sophomore outside hitter duo of
Brianna Binder and
Colleen Preusser bombarded the Bulldogs throughout the match. Binder marked a career night with 23 kills on a .391 attack percentage to lead the offense, collecting 25.5 total points in the outing. She nabbed a double-double in the effort with 13 digs to pair with her kill count, it was her fifth double-double of the fall. Preusser also recorded her fifth double-double of the year as she collected 14 kills and 18 digs.
On the season, McKendree owns a 4-10 record, winning its latest matchup and only having played two contests on its home court. The Bearcats offense has been led by the duo of Binder (2.85 kills per set) and Preusser (2.68 kills per set), who both have collected more than 150 points on the season. Coordination of the offense has been in the hands of junior setter
Macy Tongate, who dished out 452 assists in the 14 matches so far this year (9.06 per set). The offense also features four other Bearcats who average more than one kill per set.
SOUTHWEST BAPTIST:
The Bearcats of Southwest Baptist host McKendree's first match of the weekend on Friday. The opposing Bearcats own a 7-9 overall record (3-5 GLVC) in the fall and also won their last outing. The SBU offense is led by sophomore Rachel Francis and sophomore Ashley Lasher. Francis has racked up 184 points on 2.70 kills per setwhile Lasher has collected 166.5 points on 2.94 kills per set in the fall.
The all-time series between the two Bearcat programs is in favor of McKendree at 2-0. McKendree owns the advantage in the set count at 6-1 over the two matches.
ROCKHURST (RV):
The Hawks of Rockhurst are one of two GLVC programs to be featured in the latest AVCA national poll with Lewis (14th). Rockhurst (RV) dropped its latest match and sits at 4-3 in the league this season. Senior Averi Vomastic leads the Hawk attack with 223.5 points in the fall with 3.32 kills per set while senior Morgan Conner ranks second on Rockhurst with 171.5 points and 2.47 kills per set.
In the all-time series, the Hawks own the advantage with a 6-4 record, including the last three matches. Prior to the Rockhurst streak, McKendree won three-straight outings over the Hawks.

McKendree women's volleyball will be on the road this weekend, beginning at SBU on Friday, October 8 at 7 P.M. and then traveling to Rockhurst for a Saturday afternoon matchup at 3 P.M.
