The McKendree University softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader against the University of Indianapolis on Saturday.The Bearcats lost the first game 15-1 after 5 innings and lost the second game 6-1.

Game OneÂ
Jenny Homann (Freeburg, IL/Freeburg) would get the scoring going for the Bearcats with an RBI double scoring
Paige Hayden (Independence, MO/Fort Osage) to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. UIndy would proceed to score the games next 15 runs, including an eight-run second inning.

The Bearcats would finish the game with four hits while the Greyhounds would finish with 14.

Katie Nuetzel (Hereford, AZ/Buena) started the game for McKendree and went 1 1/3 innings, gave up four earned runs, walked two batters and would be credited with the loss. Her pitching record is 0-1.

Game TwoÂ
The second game of the day saw the Greyhounds get out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring all five runs in the second inning.

Freshman
Emily King (Columbia, MO/Hickman) would break the ice for McKendree with a solo home run to center field. It was her first home run and RBI of her collegiate career at McKendree.

The Bearcats would finish the game with two hits compared to the Greyhounds seven hits.Â

Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) would start the game for the Bearcats. She pitched in 1 1/3 innings, gave up five earned runs, walked two batter and was credited with the loss. Her pitching record is now 2-2.

After today's games, the Bearcats record will drop to 3-5 on the season overall and 2-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

McKendree will be back in action next Saturday, March 20 when they take on the University of Illinois-Springfield. The first game of the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. and the second game is set for 2 p.m.
