The McKendree University baseball team dropped both ends of today's doubleheader against the Lewis University Flyers 5-4 and 9-3.

Game OneÂ
How it Happened
The Flyers got on the scoreboard first in game one with a single tally in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats would answer back with two runs in the third led by graduate student
Bryce Emery, who extended his hit streak to eight games with an RBI double.
Ryan Hutchinson would add to the McKendree lead after scoring on a Flyers error.Â
The lead did not last long for the Bearcats. Lewis would answer with two runs of its own in its half of the third inning to retake a 3-2 lead.
The game would continue to go back-and-forth. This time it was the Bearcats turn to retake the lead.Â
JP Kehoe would single in two runs to give McKendree the 4-3 lead. But once again Lewis would respond in its half of the inning. The Flyers would bring across two runs and were finally able to hold a lead and win the opening game 5-4.Â

Connor McCormick recorded a hit for the fourth straight contest.

How it HappenedÂ
Game two saw McKendree fall behind early after giving up three runs in the first two innings. However, the Bearcats would respond in the third inning by evening the score at three. Â
Corey Price would drive in a run followed by a
Joseph Copeland double which drove in two runs.Â
Unfortunately, for the Bearcats it would be all Flyers from that point on. Lewis would go on to add six runs in the next two innings and keep McKendree off the scoreboard for the rest of the contest.
