MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NCWA) recently released its 2020-21 Scholar All-America Team and Individual academic honors for NCAA women's wrestling.
This season, the NCWA had a total of 101 individuals represented by 16 different institutions for this past season on the 2021 Individual Scholar All-American Teams.
McKendree University had eight individual student-athletes selected, while the Bearcats team also recorded the second highest team GPA among the Top 10 teams recognized. McKendree had a team GPA of 3.720 for the 2020-21 school year.
In the overall Top 10 team rankings, McKendree was just behind Adrian (Mich.), who posted the top team GPA for the second consecutive season as they tallied a 3.743 GPA. Along with Adrian and McKendree, King (Tenn.) University was third on the list with a GPA of 3.621, while Augsburg (Minn.) University was fourth with a 3.586 GPA and Gannon (Pa.) University was fifth with a 3.573 GPA. The remainder of the Top 10 teams were Colorado Mesa in sixth with a 3.549 GPA, Tiffin University was seventh with a 3.521 GPA and Lindenwood University was eighth with a 3.434 GPA. North Central College (3.378 GPA) and Emmanuel College (3.307 GPA) were ninth and 10th respectively.
McKendree was one of eight NCAA women's wrestling teams to have at least eight student-athletes named Individual Scholar All-Americans as King University led the way with 13 selections, while Adrian was second with 11 overall selections and Augsburg University, Tiffin University and Emmanuel College were tied for third with nine selections.
The eight Bearcats named 2021 Individual NCWA Scholar All-Americans were sophomore Emma Bruntil (Acme, Wash./Mount Baker Senior), redshirt sophomore exercise science and sport performance major Pauline Granados (Rialto, Calif./Carter), freshman biology major Cameron Guerin (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis), junior exercise science and sport performance major Joye Levendusky (Avon, N.Y./Avon), freshman elementary education Emmily Patneaud (Newark, Calif./Gilory), junior speech communication major Natalie Reyna (Hesperia, Calif./Whittier), sophomore business administration Payton Stroud (Buckley, Wash./White River) and junior education major Felicity Taylor (Spillville, Iowa/South Winneshiek).
