LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's wrestling, the second ranked team in the nation, is on the road for the first outing of 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky for Mat Mayhem at the National Duals, hosted by National Wrestling Coaches Association. The Bearcats enter the national competition as the number two seed (
Dual Rankings) with 12 ranked individual wrestlers in the last NWCA rankings (
12/22/2021). McKendree has collected nine top finishers this fall over three open tournaments, most recently coming in third place at the North Central Women's Open on December 11 in Naperville, Illinois. Heading into the new year, the Bearcats have the second most ranked wrestlers in the nation with a dozen behind top-ranked King University (15).
NWCA National Duals (Louisville, Ky.)
McKendree will enter the two-day competition as the defending champions after winning the 2020 National Duals by a slim, one-point margin over Simon Fraser. The Bearcats took the title in the tournament after they were awarded a one point score adjustment to put them in the lead over this season's three seed, Simon Fraser. The final matchup of the 2020 outing was headlined by five victories, including a 10-2 decision for
Sydnee Kimber (191) and a 9-0 win by
Kori Bullock (170). (
