O'FALLON, Ill. – The 15th-ranked McKendree women's swimming and diving team concluded its triangular dual meet with Saint Louis and 23rd-ranked Oklahoma Christian here Saturday at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex Pool.
 
McKendree picked up a 226-110 win over Oklahoma Christian and fell 197-152 to Saint Louis University.
 
In the double dual meet that was spread over two days, the Bearcats won seven of the 19 events, including placing first and second overall in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
 
Four Bearcats won at least two events, including fifth-year senior Abigail Rumpp (Knoxville, Tenn./L&N STEM Academy) winning three events, including two relays. In addition to Rumpp, freshman Taylor Siebert (Plainwell, Mich./Plainwell) won both of the diving events, while sophomore Aurora Abbruscato (Reggio Emilia, Italy/I.I.S. Blaise Pascal) and junior Alexis Kachkin (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) each won two relay events.
 
The dual meet began each day with diving as Siebert and senior Andrea Menard-Cordoba (Montreal, Quebec/College St. Ann) went first and second in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Siebert posted a score of 227.10 in 1-meter diving and 219.45 in 3-meter diving, while Menard-Cordoba was second in both events – 211.88 in 1-meter and 209.25 in 3-meter diving.
 
McKendree opened the swim portion of the event by posting a second and fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay as the 'A' Team was second with a time of 3:59.56, while the 'B' Team was fourth with a time of 4:01.52. The members of the runner-up relay team were sophomore Caitlyn Sligh (Tomball, Texas/Tomball Memorial), freshman Rylee Sitton (Troy, lll./Triad), redshirt freshman McKenzie Fazio (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River) and sophomore Karley Sonnenberg (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield), while Rumpp, senior Grace Credit (La Grange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township), Abbruscato and freshman Jocelyn Zgola (Milwaukee, Wis./Greendale) were on the fourth place 'B' relay team.
 
Freshman Ana Cecilia Carvalho (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Loyola) was second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:25.74), 500 freestyle (5:06.55), third in the 200 butterfly (2:08.71) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (59.60).
 
McKendree's first individual win came in the 100 freestyle as Zgola touched first with a time of 52.75. Fazio and Kachkin were fourth and sixth respectively with times of 54.15 and 54.47. Zgola was also second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.96
 
The Bearcats' second individual event win came in the 400 IM as sophomore Sarah Gormley (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) recorded a first place time of 4:39.97.
 
McKendree's 200 freestyle relay team of Sonnenberg, Kachkin, Abbruscato and Rumpp posted a first place time of 1:38.15, while the Bearcats' 200 medley relay team of Kachkin, Credit, Abbruscato and Rumpp placed first in the event with a time of 1:48.23.
Rumpp's only individual win came in the 50 freestyle as she recorded a time of 24.60. Sonnenberg was second in the event with a time of 24.65 and Kachkin placed fifth with a time of 24.94.
 
Sligh had a third place finish in the 200 backstroke with time of 2:12.02, while Gormley, Credit and Sitton went second, fourth and fifth in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:07.83, 108.20 and 1:08.64 respectively.
 
Gormley was the runner-up in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.89 in the second to last event.
 
The final event of the meet was the 400 freestyle relay and the Bearcats went 2-5-7 in the event as their 'A' relay team recorded a runner-up finish with a time of 3:34.04. The members of the runner-up relay team were Zgola, Sonnenberg, Fazio and Rumpp. The 'B' Team was fifth with a time of 3:40.76 and the 'C' Team was seventh with a time of 3:46.62. The members of the 'B' Team were Kachkin, Abbruscato, Carvalho and freshman Natalia Kralova (Poprad, Slovakia/Gymnasium Ivana Horvatha) and the 'C' Team swimmers were freshman Olivia Fuller (Coolidge, Antigua/St. Anthony's), freshman Terrah DeLorimiere (Lubbock, Texas/Coronado), Credit and sophomore Ana Radulovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sportska Gimnazija).
 
The Bearcats return to the pool to host fourth-ranked University of Indianapolis on Friday, Nov. 4. The meet will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex Pool.
