Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to #4 Indianapolis in Home Dual Meet

O'FALLON, Ill. – The McKendree women's swimming and diving team hosted the No. 4-ranked University of Indianapolis in a dual competition this weekend. The Bearcats fell to the Greyhounds 194-104 in the 16-event meet.
 
McKendree saw four first-place finishes in the meet, including a victory in the 1-meter diving as junior Regan Gubera (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) took first with a score of 280.35. Gubera finished second in the 3-meter diving contest with a score of 276.23, just 4.4 points shy of the leader from Indianapolis, Mikaela Starr.
 
Freshman Ana Cecilia Carvalho (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Loyola) posted two first-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:21.77) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.57). Carvalho took second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:10.10.
 
Rounding out the first-place finishes for the day was freshman Rylee Sitton (Troy, Ill./Triad), posting a time of 2:24.06 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
Sophomore Sarah Gormley (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) recorded a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.49) just .4 seconds behind first-place finisher Hannah Burke of Indianpolis, while freshman Jocelyn Zgola took second in the 100-yard freestyle (53.26). Freshman Keianna Moss (Nassau, Bahamas/Focus Point Academy) posted a 58.80 in the 200-yard butterfly to earn another second place for the Bearcats.
 
McKendree also finished second in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
