ADDISON, Ill. – Fresh off the 2022 NCAA National Championship, four McKendree University bowlers began play here Tuesday in the Intercollegiate Singles Championships qualifying round here at the Stardust Bowl.

Rebecca Hagerman (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem), freshman
Anna Warkel (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and fifth-year senior
Britaney Myers (Mechanicsville, NY/Stillwater).
Along with having four individual qualifiers at this year's ITC Singles Championships, the McKendree women's team also qualified for the 16-team Intercollegiate Team Championships, which begins play on Thursday with 24 Baker games, before determining the teams to compete in eight rounds of match play (best-of-seven Baker matches) to determine the two teams to compete in the championship final, which will be a best-of-five Baker format.
In the first round of qualifying that featured six games of total pinfall, Hagerman, Gramly and Warkel finished second, third and eighth overall to earn one of the eight byes into Wednesday's second round of action. The fourth bowler, Myers, finished 24th in qualifying with a 976 with a high game of 195 in the fourth game and then fell in the first round of the single elimination bracket to Duquesne Olivia Farwell, who was named this year's Division I Player of the Year, 595-554.
While Myers was eliminated from the Intercollegiate Singles Championships, Hagerman was second in qualifying as she recorded a score of 1,303 pins and averaged 217.17 over the course of six games, highlighted by a high of 262 in the first game and had three other games of 200 or better, while Gramly was third in qualifying with a 1,293 for six games and averaged 215.50 per game and had four games of over 200, including a high of 255 in the fifth game and Warkel was eighth in qualifying with a 1,201 and averaged 200.17 in six game and had three games of over 200, including a high of 237 in the sixth game.
In Wednesday's Round of 16, which features three games of total pinfall, Hagerman will meet Vanderbilt's Amanda Naujokas, who advanced to the Round of 16 with a 601-489 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater's Caitlin Mertins, while Gramly will meet Campbellsville's Shelbi Morris, who earned her spot in the Round of 16 with a 591-545 win over Lawrence Tech's Daniella DeCruydt and Warkel will face Farwell, who earned her spot in the Round of 16 with her win over Myers.
Competition will continue tomorrow with two rounds of action to cut the field from 16 players to four semifinalists, which will compete in the Final Four of the event on Saturday, April 23, which will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
