Phasin Vichitcharoenpaisarn (Bangkok, Thailand/The American School of Bangkok) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Vichitcharoenpaisarn earned his third career GLVC Men's Golfer of the Week and his first since he was recognized on back-to-back weeks (Oct. 7 and Oct. 14) last October. In addition, he is the first Bearcat men's golfer honored by the league since senior
Rasmus Nilsson (Stockholm, Sweden/Danderyds Gymnasium) was honored on March 24, 2022.
The GLVC selected Vichitcharoenpaisarn as this week's Men's Golf of the Week following his outstanding performance earlier this week at the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational hosted by Malone University and held at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.
At the 90-player event, Vichitcharoenpaisarn finished in a tie for second place after carding an 8-under par 208 for 54 holes. He opened the event with a 3-under par 69, before carding a 2-under par 70 in the second round and then he fired a three-under 69 in the final round. His final round 69 was tied for the second lowest final round score. He was one of 13 golfers to shoot par or better at the event and one of 10 golfers to finish under par for 54 holes.
At the event, McKendree finished in third place out of 16 teams after shooting a 2-under par 862 for 54 holes. The Bearcats were two shots behind runner-up Hillsdale (Mich.) College and two shots in front of fourth place, Malone. The Bearcats shot rounds of 284, 294 and 284. The final round score of 284 was the second lowest of the final round.
On the season, Vichitcharoenpaisarn is averaging 68.6 in five rounds and two events. He has had three rounds of par or better on the season, including a season-low round of 69 in both the first and third rounds of the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational.
Vichitcharoenpaisarn and the rest of the Bearcats return to the course on Oct. 3-4 as they compete at the Midwest Regional, which will be held at Panther Creek Golf Course in Springfield, Ill.
