CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI- The Mckendree track teams traveled to SEMO this weekend to contend in one of their most competitive meets of the season, the Joey Haines Invite.

The Bearcat women had a very strong second meet of the outdoor season returning to Mckendree with three events in which they earned a top 16 spot on the GLVC Performance list. The team was led by freshman Lacey Laxton (Coal Valley, IL/Geneseo), who on her first attempt at the Steeple Chase moved into fourth on the GLVC performance list with a time of 13:23.23. Another freshman, Azia Douglas (Cahokia Heights IL/Altoff Catholic), improved her GLVC hurdle rankings moving into seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:16.72 and 14^th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 19.72. Colleen Zinke (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) also ran a Personal Best 1500 time of 5:51.35 in very windy conditions.

On the Men's side the team saw great success as well. Brendan Harter (St. Louis, MO/Desmet Jesuit) jumped 2.05m in the high jump placing himself first in the GLVC, 13^th in NCAA Division II, and hitting the NCAA Provisional mark. He is the first Bearcat of the outdoor season to hit a provisional mark. Other high performing Bearcats included Malachi Carroll (Omaha, NE/ Harry A. Burke) who placed third in the 100m, John Bush (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) who placed seventh in the 800m with a collegiate best time of 1:57.00, and Julian Jusczcyk (St. Louis, MO/Lutheran North) who placed eighth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.22. The Mckendree Relays also scored with the 4x100m relay consisting of George Safo (Crete, IL/Crete-Monet), Holden Hutchcraft (Pinckneyville, IL/Pinckneyville), Johnathan Bumpers (Alton, IL/Alton), and Carroll placing 5^th and the 4x400m relay consisting of Safo, Hutchcraft, Oshawi Burgher (Kingston, Jamaica/ Excelsior), and Bush placing 4^th.

The Bearcats have their next meet at home on April 7^th at the Mckendree Bearcat Classic.
