O'FALLON, Ill. - McKendree University women's swimming and diving defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, 177-99. The Bearcats celebrated two seniors on their Senior Day, Alexis Kachkin and Ellie Lawrence.  

McKendree was victorious in 12 events for the afternoon including both 200-yard relays. Kachkin, sophomore Gabriela Novais Lima, freshman Helena Kurtz, and junior Karley Sonnenberg controlled the medley relay while a similar crew of sophomore Jocelyn Zgola, Novais Lima, Sonnenberg, and Kachkin claimed the freestyle relay win.  

Zgola snagged two individual wins on the day to lead the Bearcats as she finished first in the 100 and 200 freestyle while fifth-year senior Andrea Menard Cordoba won both 1 meter and 3 meter diving.  

In the backstroke events, McKenzie Fazio swam first in the 100 backstroke in 58.86 while freshman Victoria Maki claimed the 200 backstroke in 2:09.35. In sprint and distance freestyle, Sonnenberg swam a 24.44 for first in the 50 freestyle as sophomore Ana Cecilia Carvalho handled the 500 freestyle in 5:07.28. Taking the top spot in the 100 butterfly was Kurtz in addition to freshman Logan Wilson in the 200 individual medley.  

In just over two weeks, the Bearcats are back in the pool at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in Evansville, Ind.
