Five Champion, 13 Place at MoBap Open for No.4 Women's Wrestling

Bearcats claim 116, 123,130, 136, and 143 weight classes in local open tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Fourth-ranked McKendree University women's wrestling traveled across the St. Louis metro on Saturday for the Missouri Baptist Open, which saw the Bearcats collect five first-place finishes with 13 placers overall. The Bearcats' five championed weight classes were 116lbs - Julia Vidallon, 123lbs - Nichole Moore, 130lbs - Cameron Guerin, 136lbs - Alex Szkotnicki, and 143lbs - Viktorya Torres while the squad placed wrestlers in all weights from 101 to 155. McKendree now prepares for a final dual matchup on February 1 before its heads off to Iowa for the regional championships.

NOTES
McKendree captured five weight class titles at the MoBap Open with champs in the 116 (Vidallon), 123 (N. Moore), 130 (Guerin), 136 (Szkotnicki), and 143 (Torres).

Julia Vidallon claimed the 116 class with a 3-0 record with three decision wins, including a victory over sixth-ranked 116 Caitlyn Thorne of Lindenwood.

Nichole Moore championed the 123 class behind a dominant day of technical superiority over her counterparts. Moore won all matches by tech fall, outscoring opponents 41-0.

Cameron Guerin captured a top finish at the open, going 4-0 with four-straight pin fall victories. Guerin earned her first three pins in under a minute (0:25, 0:16, 0:57) and then defeated Lindenwood's Cayden Condit with a fall at 1:56 in the title bout.

Alex Szkotnicki took first place in the 136 class with four falls, three of which came in the first period of her matches, while going 5-0 on the day. Szkotnicki took the opening round match by decision before stringing her falls through the championship battle.

Viktorya Torres earned another top-finish at an open, winning matches via fall, tech fall, and decision. Torres won the weight class with an 8-0 decision over MoBap's Tiyahna Askew, who is NAIA #7 at 143.
