Bearcats go 3-1 overall, taking out three ranked programs during championship duals tournament

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa | UNI Dome - No.5 McKendree University women's wrestling, the fourth seed at the 2024 NWCA / USMC National Duals Championship, collected a seventh-straight top-three finish at the top-level duals tournament behind victory over third-seeded, No.3 King in its final battle of the weekend. The Bearcats topped No.18 Gannon and No.4, fifth-seeded Colorado Mesa on the first day of the weekend in Cedar Falls, punching their ticket to the semis against top-seeded, No.2 North Central on the second day of competition before claiming third place via victory over the third-seeded Tornado.

NOTES
McKendree captured its seventh-straight top-three finish at NWCA National Duals with the 2024 finish. The Bearcats repeated their results from 2023 while taking a runner-up finish in 2022.

Freshman Shelby Moore, the #5 ranked 123lb wrestler, claimed victory in all her matches with two ranked victories over the weekend. The two ranked wins were over current #1 Amani Jones of North Central and current #4 Virginia Foard of King. She defeated Foard via tech fall, 10-0, beat Jones by decision, 8-5.

The Bearcats tallied six pin falls and 13 technical superiority wins while adding five upset wins for individuals and two team upsets with the wins against No.4 Colorado Mesa and No.3 King. McKendree owns a 5-0 all-time record over CMU while it was the Bearcats' first win over King since the 2020-21 season.

McKendree women's wrestling will be back in action on January 19 with a dual match against William Jewell, held at the McKendree Wrestling Room. The time will be announced soon.
Following the dual, the squad will head across St. Louis on January 20, competing in the MoBap Open.
