Women's Bowling Places 5th in Season Opener

STRUTHERS, Ohio - The McKendree University women's bowling team kicked off their 2024-25 season-opening weekend with a fifth-place finish out of 16 teams in the Penguin Classic.

The Bearcats finished fifth overall going 8-5, knocking down 12,618 pins in 67 total games, averaging 188.3 pins a game. University of Nebraska took first knocking down 3,697 pins in a total of 64 games.

After Friday's opening day of action, McKendree was in seventh place knocking down 4,623 pins in five baker matches. On day two, the Bearcats competed in five traditional matches, knocking down 4,717 pins, remaining in seventh place. On the last day of the tournament, the Bearcats advanced to fifth place knocking down 3,278 pins. 

In individual standings, senior Lexus Petrich finished 20th out of 121 bowlers knocking down 988 pins and averaging 197.6 pins a game. Graduate student Alyssa Alexander finished 27th overall knocking down 978 pins averaging 195.6 pins a game.

The Bearcats are back in action Nov. 1-3, competing in the Lions Classic in St. Charles, Missouri.
