Battle for the Land of Lincoln
Back on August 27th, the coaches and administrators of both schools decided it was time to give this rivalry a name and a trophy to play for. The winner of the game will get the traveling trophy, which is a Top Hat made of steel. Until the 2024 football season, McKendree and Quincy have been the only two NCAA Division II football playing schools in the state of Illinois. The previous three seasons, the teams have been separated by a total of eleven points including an overtime finish in 2022 and a 20-plus point comeback in 2021. Overall, McKendree holds the all-time series record of 20-5 dating back to 1997.
Great Lakes Valley Sports Network Pay-Per-View
The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced an update to the pay-per-view (PPV) pricing for regular season GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) livestreams, the league announced on August 15th.
Fans will have three different purchase options for regular-season broadcasts, including an individual broadcast cost of $12, a monthly pass for $25, and a full regular season GLVC package at $120 that includes the four sports listed below. The price for Championships will vary, with more details announced closer to each event.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are now 2-2 (1-0 GLVC) after falling in their final non-conference game to FCS-member Western Illinois in week four by the score of 49-32.
Ty Michael has completed 74 of 142 for 873 yards and three touchdowns. The O'Fallon, Illinois native is averaging 218 yards per game. Yogi Flager, Jr. is the top target for the Bearcats with 20 catches for 333 yards and a touchdown. After a standout performance last week, Eddie Clark has carried the ball 87 times for 360 yards and six touchdowns.
Scouting the Hawks
The Hawks enter week five of the campaign with an overall record of 2-1 (2-1 GLVC) after falling to Upper Iowa University last week. QU led 20-7 at the half, but got outscored 22-7 in the fourth quarter to fall by the score of 29-27.
Drake Davis has completed 71% of his passes at 56 of 79 for 601 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. His top target has been Anthony Gilpin, Jr. who has caught 13 balls for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Teon Dollard has solidify himself as the top back for the Hawks with 55 carries for 369 yards and six touchdowns.
