Welch, Sampson Win McKendree University Invitational on Springfield Lake

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - On Sunday, Oct. 6th the Bearcat Anglers hosted an Invitational on Springfield Lake. The Bearcats hosted 22 teams from seven different universities including: Adrian, Greenville, Illinois State, University of Illinois, Drury, Wabash Valley, and McKendree.

"The Bearcats had another fantastic day on the water," added head coach Jon Rinderer.

Sophomore Parker Welch and freshman Cole Sampson had an outstanding day taking the win with a five-bass limit for 14.88 pounds. Junior Kai Barnett and senior Blake Tinsley placed second with a limit weighing 13.83 pounds. Their sack included Barnetts's big bass of the day weighing in at 4.85 pounds. A boat from Drury took third with five bass for 13.73 pounds. Taking fourth was a team from Wabash Valley with 12.98 pounds. Rounding out the top five was a boat from Wabash Valley with 12.95.
