INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced the 2024 Preseason Poll for the league's 12th season of football on Friday, August 2nd. Collecting all eight of the possible first-place votes, the University of Indianapolis was the unanimous choice to win the 2024 GLVC football title.
The preseason poll is selected by the league's nine head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.
After finishing 5-6 (5-2 GLVC) last year, the Bearcats collected 51 total points and were picked to finish 3rd in the 2024 Preseason Poll. They return a league-high 20 starters, with ten on the offensive side and nine on the defense.
The Bearcat offense will feature All-GLVC First Team wideout Yogi Flager, Jr., who had an injury-shortened 2023 season after leading the Conference in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2022. 25 letterwinners are back on defense, highlighted by second-team defensive lineman Sam Amponsah, who registered 25 tackles (6.5 for loss) and 1.5 sacks last year. Punter Kaleb Barry is the lone returner on special teams after landing on the Second Team a year ago.
McKendree will open the 2024 season with a road trip to Pensacola, Florida against the University of West Florida on Thursday, September 5th.
