O'FALLON, Ill – Mckendree University women's swimming and diving defeated the UMSL Tritons and Lewis flyers on their 2025 senior day with scores of 169-80 and 168-92 respectively. The Bearcats honored 18 seniors before the meet.
Starting off the day the 200-yard relay saw fifth-year senior Alexis Kachkin, seniors Sarah Gormley, Karley Sonnenberg, and freshman Tumi Macdonell placed second with a time of 1:42.50.
Frehsman Luiza Dias secured the win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.58, followed by junior Jocelyn Zgola in fourth place with a time of 1:54.77. Dias also took first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.99.
Kachkin followed up her second-place finish in the 200-yard relay with another second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.08. She also took second in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.08.
The 100- and 200-yard breaststroke saw Junior Rylee Sitton place first with times of 1:04.83 and 2:21.86 respectively. A personal best mark in the 100yd.
In the 200-yard fly, the duo of junior Natalia Kralova and senior Atzi Gomez finished first and second with time of 2:08.45 and 2:08.45.
Macdonell and Zgola placed first and second in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 53.02 and 53.60.
Kralova also saw a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:06.69.
The 100-yard fly had a trio of Bearcats finish in the top three. Burwitz, sophomore Helena Kurtz, and senior Aurora Abbruscato finished with times of 56.40, 57.66, and 57.85 respectively.
Rounding out the day for the Bearcats the 200-yard free relay saw Macdonell, Sonnenberg, Abbruscato, and Kahckin take first with a time of 1:35.69.
This closes out the regular season for the Bearcats, and now look to the GLVC Championships which will being on Feb. 11 in Elkhart, IN.
