Women's Track and Field Flourishes at Greenville Select Meet

GREENVILLE, Ill. - McKendree University women's track and field competed at the Greenville University select meet, hosted by Greenville University. The Bearcats saw a plethora of personal bests, including a seasons best 3:50. In the 4 x 400m relay. 

Sophomore Amber Cotton got the day started with a ninth place finish in the 100m, running 12.73 a personal best. Followed in suit by freshman Helena Rohde in 12.74. 

The 200m saw freshman Mickayla Sutherland take third with a time of 24.83, placing 12th in the GLVC currently. 

In the 400m, a trio of sophomores Adonya Taylor, Sara Belloso, and Divine Favour Ozomma placed seventh, eighth, and 10th with times of 58.94, 59.00, and 59.88 respectively. 

Sophomore Chloe Gough threw down a season best time of 2:29.12 in the 800m, placing 12th. 

Freshman Oaklie Layton ran a personal best in the 1500m with a time of 6:22.73. 

Belloso also ran the 400m hurdles, placing second with a time of 1:07.73. 

The relay quadrent of Taylor, Ozomma, Dear, and Sutherland ran the third best time in the GLVC this year in 3:50.65. Sutherlands anchor split of 55.45 would be the third best 400m time in school history had it been an open race.  

Over on the field sophomore Paula Niubo leaped a mark of 1.43m in the high jump taking ninth. Freshman Rajae Saunders took 11th place with career best mark of 1.43m as well. Niubo also leapt a personal best of 5.51m in the long jump. Adonya Taylor took first place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.23m.  

The throws duo of freshmen Sofia Boscarolo and Tenisa Ferrell took fourth and ninth place in the shot put with marks of 12.02m and 11.44m respectively. Ferrell also threw a personal best in the discus with a mark of 36.75m taking 6th place.  

The Bearcats will travel to Rolla, Mo. for the Dewey Allgood Invitational on Sat. April 19.
