LEBANON, Ill. – The Bearcats are headed to Southwest Baptist University and Drury University for the start of Great Lake Valley Conference (GLVC) play Sept. 26th-Sept. 27th. McKendree starts the weekend with the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on the 26th followed by a contest against the Drury Panthers on the 27th.
McKendree is entering GLVC competition with a 1-10 record on the season thus far. Despite being ranked 8th in the preseason poll, the Bearcats are sitting in the 12th spot out of the 14 teams that make up the GLVC. Senior outside hitter Destiny Gray is coming into the weekend leading the offense with 93 kills, while senior libero Ashlyn Berczynski is the defensive leader with 142 digs. The Bearcats are nursing a 4-game losing streak, wanting to start GLVC contention with a few wins to end their streak.
Southwest Baptist received the 13th place in the GLVC preseason poll; however, they are currently ranked at 9th with a record of 3-8 going into GLVC contest. The Bearcats are guided on offense by freshman outside hitter Gabriela Dupree with 145 kills. Defensively, freshman defensive specialist/libero Chloe Chafins conducts the back court with 155 digs. The Bearcats are seeking to break their 3-game losing streak this weekend on their home court.
Drury notched in at 9th in the GLVC preseason poll, but with an overall record of 7-4 on the season, the Panthers are currently sitting at 3rd prior to the start of conference play. The senior outside hitter duo Ella Rademaker and Mailie Chretien are currently leading the offensive efforts with 106 and 105 kills, respectively. Chretien is also a threat on the defensive end, leading her team with 92 digs. Senior defensive specialist Mary Henry and sophomore setter Jacy Bray follows closely with 88 digs each. The Panthers are on a 2-game losing streak, looking to use their home court advantage to put an end to it this weekend.
