CHARLESTON, Ill. – McKendree's women's track and field team battled at the John Craft Invitational hosted by Eastern Illinois University for the first meet of the new year.
The 400m saw three top 10 finishes with freshman Alaina Spence placing fourth with a time of 1:00.41, junior Adonya Taylor finishing fifth with a time of 1:01.81, and junior Iyanna Dear placed tenth with the time of 1:04.13.
Four Bearcats finished in the top 10 of the 600m. Sophomore Mickayla Sutherland placed second with the time of 1:46.08, junior Divine Favour Ozomma finished third with the time of 1:46.62, sophomore Helena Rohde placed fifth with a time of 1:48.47, and junior Sara Belloso placed sixth with a time of 1:51.07.
Senior Azia Douglas finished seventh in hurdles with the time of 10.51.
In the 4 x 400 relay, Taylor, Ozomma, Dear, Sutherland placed third with a time of 4:01.92. In the distance medley relay, Belloso, freshman Mariah Creamer, junior Chloe Gough, and senior Sophia Paschal placed third with a time of 14:39.97.
Junior Paula Niubo tied for seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m.
The long jump saw two top 10 placements with sophomore Shinelle Jhagroo-Bryan finishing second with a mark of 5.53m, and Niubo finished tenth with a mark of 4.80m.
Sophomore Sofia Boscarolo placed second in shot put with a mark of 12.87m.
Up Next: Women's Track and Field will compete at the Jason Dennis Memorial hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Jan. 30th.
