PREVIEW: Bearcat Women's Basketball takes on Missouri S&T, Lincoln, in Show-Me State Road Trip

McKendree looks to rebound after Drury snapped the Bearcats' four-game win streak on Saturday

Rolla, MO - The McKendree University Women's Basketball team heads back on the road this week for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups, traveling west for games at Missouri S&T (7-7, 3-5 GLVC) and Lincoln (4-12, 2-7 GLVC) as part of another two-game league set. The Bearcats (record) enter the weekend looking to bounce back after a narrow setback to Drury on Saturday, while still holding a strong position in the GLVC standings midway through conference play.

RECAP: DRURY 83, McKENDREE 80 (JANUARY 17, 2026)
McKendree saw its four-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling 83-80 to Drury at the Statham Sports Center. The game featured eight ties and four lead changes, with the Panthers holding the advantage late after a tightly contested fourth quarter.

The Bearcats were led offensively by Tessa Crawford, who poured in a team-high 22 points while knocking down five three-pointers. Baylie Parks recorded a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, continuing her strong play in the paint, while Kyra Taylor added 16 points and four rebounds.

McKendree battled back from an 11-point Drury lead in the third quarter and had opportunities late, but the Panthers capitalized at the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win. Despite the loss, the Bearcats finished with a +12 advantage on the glass and out-scored Drury in second-chance points, underscoring their physical presence throughout the game.

SCOUTING THE MISSOURI S&T MINERS
Missouri S&T enters the weekend hovering around the .500 mark overall and in conference play, but the Miners have proven to be a tough out, especially at home in Rolla. S&T is coming off a loss to Maryville, but has collected GLVC wins over Lincoln (road), William Jewell (home), and, most notably, a road GLVC win over Drury on January 8th.

Offensively, the Miners are led by Norah Gum (12.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 29 ast, 9 blk), a versatile forward who averages double figures and contributes on both ends of the floor. Anna Finley (13 3's) provides perimeter scoring and playmaking, while Ava McCulla (8.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 9 blk) is a consistent interior presence, ranking among the team leaders in rebounding.

Missouri S&T prefers a balanced scoring approach and will look to push the tempo while relying on a physical half-court defense. McKendree will need to control the boards and limit second-chance opportunities to come out on top.

SCOUTING THE LINCOLN BLUE TIGERS
Lincoln closes out the road trip as the Bearcats face a Blue Tiger squad that continues to compete despite a challenging conference slate. Lincoln recently fell to league-leading UMSL, but has shown flashes of offensive potential, particularly from the perimeter.

The Blue Tigers are paced by Laini Joseph (15.9 ppg, 27 3's, 6.2 rpg), who leads the team in scoring and plays heavy minutes as a primary offensive option. Hallie Williamson (8.9 ppg, 26 3's, 3.1 rpg, 11 blk) provides inside-out versatility, while Bella Borgos (7.9 ppg, 31 3's) and Isis Sanders (7.8 ppg, 16 3's) add three-point shooting threats that can stretch the floor.

Lincoln looks to generate offense through ball movement and three-pointers, making defensive discipline a McKendree point of emphasis for this one, along with transition defense, as the Bearcats would look to finish the weekend strong with a big weekend ahead, hosting UMSL and Maryville.
