EVANSVILLE, Ind. – McKendree Men's Swim and Dive had Vova Gavrysh secure the title of National Champion in the 200-yard freestyle. Tyler Bardak also had a great performance in the 400-yard individual medley to claim third place on the third day of NCAA Division II Nationals Thursday night.
Daniel de Oliveira and Phineas Theall got the team started in the 100-yard butterfly. De Oliveira broke through the top 10 getting 10th place with a 46.90. Theall finished in 21st with a time of 47.63.
In the 400-yard individual medley, Tyler Bardak went into the finals as the third seed with a preliminary time of 3:47.45. In the finals he was able to drop nearly two seconds to earn third place with a finals time of 3:45.68. His efforts also earn him a spot as an All-American in the event.
The 200-yard freestyle was highlighted by Vova Gavrysh getting his name etched in the record books as the 2026 Division II National Champion with a blazing time of 1:32.50.
Also in the event, Caden Brooks finished 24th with a time of 1:37.49. Jakub Rynkiewicz had a time of 1:39.35 which earned him 33rd, and right behind him was Miguel Carvalhosa in 35th with a time of 1:42.72.
The team of Joey Ovanic, de Oliveira, Nojus Bertulis and Tyson Upton had an eighth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:10.84.
They will be heading back to the Deaconess Aquatic Center for the fourth day of competition. The events on Friday include the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard butterfly.
