LAKE EUFAULA, Ala. – The Bearcat Anglers had an incredible Major League Fishing (MLF) Tournament at Lake Eufaula in Alabama. The team had three boats in the top ten and qualified four teams for the MLF National Championship.
The 210-boat tournament had approximately 1/3 of the field from Alabama schools.
Graduates Evan Sutton (Highland, Ill.) and Jaxson Freeman (Loda, Ill.) had a five-bass limit for a whopping 25-5 to take the win.
Senior Tucker Siminak (Antioch, Ill.) and sophomore Carson Belville (Rushville, Ill.) also had an outstanding day with five bass for 21-11 and a 6th place finish.
Graduate Jack Stephens (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior Kai Barnett (Columbiana, Ala.) had another great five-bass limit for 21-3 and 9th place.
Junior Ryan Foster (Columbia, Ill.) and senior Henry Fledderman (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) had a great day and also qualified for the national championship with 18-10 and 25th place.
Graduate Maxwell Trotter (Decatur, Ill.) and junior Angelo Malek (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) just missed the natty cut line with five bass for 16-6 and 44th place.
Senior Ethan Fields (Breese, Ill.) fished solo and weighed in 13-6 for 93rd.
Sophomores Chase Logue (Oreana, Ill.) and Mason Darling (Highland, Ill.) weighed five for 13-3 and 100th place.
Seniors Zach Pocos (Norwalk, Ohio) and Connor Hall (Jacksonville, Ill.) finished in 108th with a five-bass for 12-11.
Junior Parker Welch (Spring Hill, Kan.) and freshman Owen Vaughn finished in 142nd with five for 9-11.
Sophomores Liam Bonnett (Pittsfield, Ill.) and Matthew Qualich (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) finished in 155th with five bass for 8-15.
Graduate Kyle Hopping (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Eli Rocha placed 179th with three fish for 4-11.
Last but not least, sophomore Dawson Hendrix (Lerna, Ill.) and freshman Landon Ingram weighed two for 3-13 and 180th.
"I am really proud of our guys on today's performance, as this was an incredible accomplishment for our team," said Head Coach Jon Rinderer. "This tournament was in the heart of so many great teams, and the number one team in the country had 36 boats in the event. Getting the win and having three boats in the top ten on this body of water was really special."
