(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 3)—The McKendree University volleyball team was defeated in three straight sets on Monday at home by Drury University. The visiting Panthers took the best-of-five contest by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-20.
McKendree, which was playing its first home match since Sept. 7 following a 14-match road stretch, slipped to 5-16 with the loss. The Bearcats will play host to the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Melvin Price Convocation Center.

Savannah Jarvis (Mascoutah, IL/Mascoutah) (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) handled eight digs. Senior outside hitter
Kaitlyn Kollmann (Collinsville, IL/Metro East Lutheran) (Collinsville, Ill./Metro East Lutheran) registered a match-high five blocks for McKendree.
Drury (10-7) rolled out to a 9-3 lead in the first set before McKendree battled back. The Bearcats slowly chipped away at the deficit and eventually tied the set at 20-20 thanks to consecutive kills by Moore and an attack error from the Panthers. However, Drury ripped off five of the next six points to grab the opening set.
After Drury controlled the second set, McKendree overcame an early deficit to take a 15-13 lead in the third set. The Panthers then scored the next four points before the Bearcats answered by forging back in front, taking their last lead at 20-19 on a block by Kollmann and
Melinda Bayer (Collinsville, IL/Triad). Once again, Drury took control late in the contest, reeling off the last six points to finish off the sweep.
Sara Borneman had a match-high 15 kills to pace Drury, while Janey Phillips added 11 attacks. Alexis Dutt contributed 36 assists for the Panthers.
