(BELLEVILLE, Ill., Feb. 22)- The McKendree University women's tennis team opened its season with a victory on Friday with a 7-2 win over Missouri Baptist University.

The Bearcats will face University of Illinois at Springfield on Friday, February 25th at noon at Kings Point Sports Club in Belleville, Ill.

The doubles teams of sophomores Guiliana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru, San Agustin) and Adriana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru, San Agustin), and junior Emily Cimarolli (Belleville, Ill., Althoff) and sophomore Nathalia Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bahiense) both won doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively, 8-2.

In singles action, Guiliana Gonzalez defeated Lindsay Dixon at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Adriana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru/San Agustin) defeated Brittany Becker, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Cimarolli defeated Kasha Davenport, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and Oliviera earned a, 6-0, 6-1, victory over Hannah Wadlow at No. 4 singles. Freshman Alexandria Peach (Wood River, Ill., Roxana) also earned a win at No. 6 singles, 8-5, over Kristin Roberts.
