(BELLEVILLE, Ill., March 12)- The McKendree University women's tennis team lost its first match of the spring season on Saturday, March 12 against University of Northwestern Ohio, 5-4.

The Bearcats, now 2-1 overall on the season, will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, March 23 to face University of Missouri-St. Louis at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center at 3 p.m.

McKendree earned its lone doubles victory at No. 1 doubles with a 8-6 victory by sophomores Adriana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru, San Agustin) and Guiliana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru, San Agustin) over Jamie Hilborn and Katie Whittington. In singles play, Adriana Gonzalez (Lima, Peru/San Agustin) dfeated Hilborn at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Guiliana Gonalez defeated Andrea Anrango. 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Nathalia Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bahiense) also earned a singles victory with a win at No. 3 singles over Shaye Warman, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.
